How it’s installed

Skip the 3D story

3D model, not your house. Your design starts from a snapshot of your roof.

How it’s installed

From a bare roof to your own power plant.

  1. 01

    Your roof, measured

We start with a snapshot of your roof and design where every panel goes — before anyone climbs a ladder.

A bare asphalt-shingle roof with one pilot hole.
  2. 02

    Mounts, sealed

Our own crew fastens the mounts and seals every roof penetration. Our roof warranty: 25 years, in writing.

  3. 03

    Panels on the rails

Qcells or REC panels go on in the rows you approved in the design. We don’t subcontract.

  4. 04

    A battery in every package

Basic: an Enphase IQ Battery 5P (5 kWh). Optimal: one Tesla Powerwall 3 (13.5 kWh). Premium: two (shown here), plus a SPAN smart panel and an EV charger. Gateway 3 switches your home to battery power when the grid goes down; you choose what stays on.

  5. 05

    Inspection, then switch-on

The city inspects the work. Your utility gives permission to operate. Then it’s yours. From contract to switch-on: up to a month.

Connecticut, in numbers

In Connecticut, Buy-All pays more than the retail rate.

Eversource and UI pay 32.89¢ for each kWh your panels make for 20 years, while the retail rate is 24.16¢.

When the grid goes down

Keep the essentials running when the grid goes down.

One Tesla Powerwall 3 stores 13.5 kWh and delivers 11.5 kW continuously. One battery doesn’t back up the whole house — you choose what stays on.

Two Powerwall 3 (Premium): about 98 hours. Your load: 235 W.

All three packages are designed for $0 for electricity in Connecticut. Optimal and Premium add more backup; Premium adds panels for an electric car. Fixed utility charges still apply. A design goal, not a guarantee.

  • Solar panels on the roof of a two-story home

“Great job by the Renewable Energy team installing our Tesla Solar Roof and Tesla Powerwall in our home in Los Angeles. The install went great and they worked well with LADWP to get us up and running!”

    — Michael Freiwald

    Los Angeles, California

  • Brian Jorans

“I was really happy with the service I received from Renewable Energy. All of the staff from sales to installers to support were very professional and frequently communicated about the status of the project. They designed the system based on my usage patterns and predictions about annual solar production based on my roofline and location. They handled all of the paperwork with SCE and made the whole process very easy. They continued to communicate once the system was up and running and provided tips for how to configure the new Tesla battery system they installed and it is working great, so far I’m 98% off grid, which includes keeping my Tesla car charged up. Great experience overall, I highly recommend Renewable Energy!”

  • Installer mounting solar panels on a shingle roof

“… They give strong guarantees for their work, and will still be around to provide service if you need it. Once you sign a contract you can sit back and relax as they will handle everything from start to finish. Being an Architect (retired), I know how construction should be done and I have been very satisfied with their work. I highly recommend them!”

Questions

Straight answers.

What happened to the federal solar tax credit?

The federal 25D tax credit ended for systems installed after December 31, 2025. Our numbers don’t include it.

We don’t give tax advice — please talk to your tax professional.

Can I change my mind after I sign?

Take the proposal home. You don’t have to sign anything today.

If you sign at your home, the federal FTC Cooling-Off Rule gives you until midnight of the third business day after the sale to cancel, with no penalty.

Your right to cancel, state by state

What happens to the extra power my panels make?

Eversource and UI customers choose between Buy-All — 32.89¢ for each kWh your panels make, for 20 years (2026 applications), while you buy the power you use at the retail rate — and Netting at the retail rate.

Buyback rules are set by your utility and state regulators. We don’t control them, and no one can guarantee them for years ahead.

Are there Connecticut incentives or tax breaks?

Buy-All: 32.89¢ for each kWh your panels make, for 20 years (instead of Netting).

Energy Storage Solutions (batteries): $30 per kWh upfront ($130 for Grid-Edge customers), plus $300 per kW a year for 10 years.

Solar systems are exempt from Connecticut sales tax (Conn. Gen. Stat. §12-412). The value solar adds to your home is exempt from property tax if you apply to your town assessor by November 1 (§12-81(57), form M-44).

We don’t give tax advice — please talk to your tax professional.

What does the battery do for me?

Under Buy-All or Netting, your panels’ power is credited whether you store it or not, so a battery mostly adds backup — and Connecticut’s Energy Storage Solutions pays toward it. Any savings from a battery we calculate with your real bills.

Every package includes a battery: Basic — an Enphase IQ Battery 5P (5 kWh), Optimal — one Tesla Powerwall 3 (13.5 kWh), Premium — two (27 kWh). One battery doesn’t back up the whole house; you choose what stays on.

What licenses apply in Connecticut?

Connecticut Home Improvement Contractor registration and PV-1 (or E-1) license.

License details for every state we serve are on our Licenses page.

Are you a government program or my utility?

We're a private company from Montana. We supply and install solar and battery systems, with our own crews in all 19 states we serve. Not a government program, not your utility.

We don’t offer free panels.

What if your company goes out of business?

Your panels, inverter and battery stay covered by their manufacturers’ warranties, under each maker’s terms (some require a certified installer and product registration). Our installation and roof warranty is ours — 25 years, in writing. Keep all your documents.

Will solar panels damage my roof?

Our own crews install every system; we don’t subcontract. Every roof penetration is sealed and covered by our written roof warranty for 25 years. We check your roof’s age before we install.

Will I really pay $0 for electricity?

We design every system for $0 for electricity: your panels are sized to cover what you pay for electricity every year for 25 years, at today’s prices. Where your utility limits how big a system can be, your estimate shows what’s possible.

It’s a design goal, not a guarantee: your use, the weather and your utility’s rules can change. Fixed utility charges still apply.

Who will call me, and when?

Our own team, from , during Connecticut calling hours: 9 AM–8 PM, your local time. We call by hand and don’t text. Tell us any time to stop, and we stop.

How long until my system is on?

Usually up to a month from contract to switch-on. Permits and your utility’s approval set the exact date.

Who services my system after installation?

We do. Our own team services your system after installation and checks it every six months.
